so, I'm sure everybody has come across several instances of incorrect English usage in their time here in Japan. Tonight, my girlfirend showed me an e-mail that was sent out by a girl she once took a french class with. So of course in the e-mail there are several french words, and even some japanese, but most of it is in English. Being that I can understand a fair bit of Japanese, translating backwards, I can understand most of what this chick was actually trying to say, but, goddamn, it is few and far between that I have encountered such a butchering of English as this. I feel it is my duty, as a charter member (#2) of the Uncut Japan network, to post this atrocity, I hope you enjoy it, and if you can actually figure out for yourself what she was trying to say, you get a gold star!
p.s. my g-friends name has been changed to protect her innocent ass, she is reffered to as "Aiko"
Konnichiwa!
Watashi wa Genkidesu!
Francois mo genkisou desune! (Francois seems to be also genki)
Thank you for E-mail.
I am very glad.
However, the schedule has entered the next Monday.
It is very regrettable.
(Though it is safe if it is an afternoon the next Sunday.
How?
I want to do something reward.
French was taught.)
The California Roll that Aiko makes is very delicious.
It has been convinced that she is a wonderful teacher!
First of all, Thursday is the enjoyment.
Let's enjoy oneself over a delicious sushi.
Bon travail!
Keiko
yeah, wow!
for those who don't know the japanese at the beginning, it simply means "good afternoon! I'm good. Francois seems to be good also!"
please enjoy! because as we all know, thursday is the enjoyment! |

This one has all the hallmarks of a free online translation program. Are you sure that isn't what she used for that email. If it is, better tell her to drop that habit real quick!
I like a challenge, so here's my guess at what she's saying:
| Quote: | Thanks for the email. I'm doing good, but too bad it's Monday.
I wish it was Sunday afternoon so I could study more French.
You're a great cook! Those California Rolls were the bomb!
Let's go out for sushi on Thursday.
Late,
Keiko |
Am I close? |
